The LTER Network Office provides support for development of technology within the LTER Program. Examples include research involving large spatial scales, use of geographic information systems (GIS) and analysis of remote sensing data. Acquisition, archiving, and distribution of satellite and GIS data useful to the LTER Network is a major activity of the LTER Network Office. This work includes partnerships with National Science Foundation centers and federal agencies such as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
