Technology
Development in the Long Term Ecological Research Network. 1991.
This report assesses LTER development in Geographic
Information Systems, Remote Sensing, Internet Connectivity, Archival Storage,
and Global Positioning Systems. It provides a history of funding supplements
in 1989 and 1990 and a snapshot view of several important technologies
across the network as of September 1990. The report concludes that dramatic
improvements had been made over this time period at all sites and that
those improvements had a major impact on idividual site research and the
ability of LTER to operate as an integrated network. Network Office
